Grow it, cook it, eat it
Pop-up classroom kitchens. Farm visits. Families and teachers involved. Delicious, nutritious school dinners, cooked by school cooks with the status and training they deserve.
Developed over four years in Carmarthenshire, our whole-school approach aims to tackle some of our biggest health challenges: at the root. Change how children eat early, and the benefits ripple outward: healthier kids, a healthier planet, thriving local producers. Power over food, back in everyone’s hands.
This is what a whole-school approach to food looks like
Food shapes how children learn, feel and grow, so we don’t treat it as a single lesson or a one-off project. The whole-school approach weaves food into everyday school life, so healthy habits form early and last. When food is part of the whole school day, from classroom to kitchen to home, healthy eating becomes part of school culture rather than simply a message children are told to follow.
